What is option A in Inter AS?

What is option A in Inter AS?

Option A is the simplest of the interconnection options. The ASBR of each AS defines an interface or sub-interface per VRF. Each AS of the Inter-AS interconnection can select freely the IGP and label distribution protocol of their choice.

What is option A in BGP?

Inter-AS Option A uses back to back vrf connections between the ASBR routers. It provides one of the solutions for running MPLS over two BGP ASes. This might be required if two carrier merge, or if one customer is connected to two carriers and would like to maintain end to end MLPS VPN.

What is Inter AS option C?

Inter-AS Option C is the third option for interconnecting multi-AS backbones covered in RFC 4364. ASBRs only take care of distribution of labeled IPv4 routes of the PEs within their own AS. To improve scalability, one MP-EBGP VPNv4 session transports all VPN routes (external routes) between PEs or RR.

What is BGP Unicast?

The BGP Labeled Unicast (BGP-LU) Multiprotocol extension is used to distribute a MPLS label that is mapped to a particular route. It can be used to advertise a MPLS transport path between IGP regions and Autonomous Systems.

What is Inter as Option B?

Inter AS Option B (RFC 4364) is accomplished using BGP VPNv4 session between ASBRs exchanging labels with eBGP (External Border Gateway Protocol). Inter AS B uses the BGP Multi-Protocol between ASBRs to transport labeled VPN routes.

What is Inter as routing?

Routing between Autonomous Systems (inter-AS routing) is external to the AS and allows one AS to send traffic to another AS. Routing within an Autonomous System (intra-AS routing) is internal to that AS and invisible to those outside it. The AS administrator decides what routing algorithm should run within it.

What is BGP option C?

Option C introduces multihop EBGP redistribution of labeled VPN-IPv4 routes between source and destination autonomous systems. Labeled IPv4 routes are redistributed by EBGP between neighboring autonomous systems. Inter-AS option C uses BGP as the label distribution protocol.

What is BGP Juniper?

By using BGP-LU, we can take the the loopbacks of PE routers and route reflectors, and advertise them between ISPs, with labels. This means we can create full label-switched paths from a PE in one autonomous system, to a PE in another autonomous system!

Is BGP unicast or multicast?

Whereas standard BGP supports only IPv4 unicast addresses, Multiprotocol BGP supports IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and it supports unicast and multicast variants of each.

What is bgp Option B?

What is bgp option C?

What are the main differences between intra AS and Inter as routing?

Intradomain routing protocols ignores the internet outside the AS(autonomous system). Interdomain routing protocol assumes that the internet contains the collection of interconnected AS(autonomous systems).
