The nobles of illithid society, ulitharids (loosely meaning “enlightened ones”, or “noble devourers” in Undercommon) possessed extraordinary gifts of strength, and a vile, malicious intellect. They were treated as minor godly beings by their normal mind flayer brethren.
Do illithids have names?
Illithids normally adopt names that are longer, with flowing syllables. Illithids are sexless, so any illithid can accept any name.
How tall is a Ulitharid?
An ulitharid towers over other mind flayers, standing at least nine feet in height. It possesses six tentacles, including two almost as long as its entire body. Its skin is a darker purple than other illithids, and it favors elaborate robes, spreading collars, and often high-crowned headdresses.
Can vampires become mind flayers?
Vampiric mind flayers, also known as vampiric illithids, were created when an illithid tadpole infected with vampirism entered a humanoid. They could not create spawn and needed both fresh blood (or other bodily liquids such as cerebrospinal fluid) and fresh brains to survive.
